what the heck does it do? What is a track saw? I live at CN CP junction and I see service rigs all the time and even know a few guys that work rail maintenance but never seen or heard of one of those.

One inch impact wrench. Up to 1325 lbs

AIRTEC - THE MASTER 35 has been in constant use throughout the World for over twenty five years, longer than any other Petrol/Gasoline Wrench. It has proved to be reliable, efficient, strong, inexpensive to maintain & operator friendly

very cool.

I'll have to ask around about what they use around here. I see a lot of 3 ton service trucks that ride the tracks and they are fully equipped with air, gensets, cranes, you name it. They even store a track replacing car on a siding not far from my house quite often. I've walked up close to it a few times. It carries lengths of rail and welds sections as it lays them. That #### really fascinates me.

Zombiechopper,

Mainly used for bolting/unbolting the fishplates plates on the track. Most CN rail was built with continous track, but every switch line etc, has all kinds of fishplates on them. Big Joe with a 10' breaker bar wouldn't break some of those nuts.

All our local lines got pulled up this past summer, was neat watching the miles upon miles of track already pulled head down the line. My son is only two years old, but he got the chance to see the last locomotive go past. Been near four months since I have heard a whistle blow..............except for the Thomas the Train one.

Haha! yeah, there is just something fascinating about all that steel - so much weight all moving.

When we moved to this town with two different lines running through it I thought the trains might drive me crazy, but now I find it be very soothing. If I'm laying in bed and that rumble starts it just puts me right to sleep. I can usually feel the shake before I hear it.

I'm still really curious if they use those impact saws here, or if they have a hydraulic or air version powered by the service trucks. I have never seen or heard of them being serviced by any local small engine places. but for all I know CN might ship em across the continent for service. It's not like the freight would be expensive for them lol!

emak

Once you ID the saw let me suggest you go to woosterpower for any parts needed.....in Wooster, Oh. An Emak dealer. They got me an oil pump for my Oly (951...circa 1993), in 36 hrs fm order to house!....I have to praise them them for their efficiency. Good number to have.

Makes one wonder how tough these Efco 162 are that they are used as tracksaws..... If your out in the middle of nowhere you need equipment that works. Obviously the company thinks highly enough of them to make the into tracksaws.

Just saw this on their homepage

The Master 35 Impact Wrench is ideal for removing/fitting Chairscrews (Lag Screws) and Fishplates (Joint Bars) where track possession is not possible.
