had a lot of work this past weekend and ran the EHP 7900 alot. Had a Large Ash tree that was actuall 2 trees grown together and needed a longer bar.
In the picture you can see the bar I used came From Jeff Sikima.
The EHP7900 had no problem pulling the long bar and chain, actually could of used the raker lowered a bit.

Here is a video of the actual tree coming down. If you look you can see the 2 tree actually seperate when it hits the ground.

I've been running my PP 7900 with a 32 inch bar, quite a bit....8 tooth sprocket. 7 might be better.

The ehp357 seems fine with an 8 tooth, 3/8 pitch on the 20 inch bar. Doubt if it's broken in yet though.

I'm starting to like that rounded shape more and more. I may get smoe extra money someday and get an EHP 7900. How is it though that you guys can get these videos and pics all the time? do you guys always have a digital camera with you on the jpb or something?

Gypo sleeps with his camera and never leaves home with out it, myself i donot even own one , i have a video camera thats all but i guess i should get one but i hear so much different stuff on what i should buy , i just need a camera that does everything by its self something that does not take alot of brains to run

I like alot of different saws but if i have to take only one , right now it would be the 7900, its light ,does not bother my hands with vibrations and has lots of power, the only thing that bothered me on the saw was the choke lever stuck out like that but i have never heard about any one breaking one so they must be strong

interesting that your happy with yours rb,im considering buying the 7900power head, intending to run a 32"just for the weight difference.only thing stopping me is the longlivity of the saw.considerably cheaper than what i can do here

Aussie , I donot think that you will have a problem with a 7900 breaking, the motor is built pretty good and has a rpm limiter at 13,500 rpm's so you cannot over rpm the saw and hurt the crank

That's interesting, Ed. But with no gadget like my old "red light special" 066, it's not as "cool"

I'd not worry about longevity, lopa from down unda", Sachs Dolmar has been around since 1926, and sure knows how to build a strong durable saw!

I wouldnt worry about longetivity. I punished mine on a daily basis from late fall through the winter cutting skidded logs into fire wood and falling saw logs. The only problem I had with it was a oil cap that cracked in sub zero weather and the oiler developed a leak that I had to fix.
Its my understanding that the pump leak problem has been addressed with a service update

I hear you rbtree, myself I liked the 066 stihl then put the back part of the mag. muffler on it.

i used a new 3120 today 32" was most disapointed with how it went.personally i love 46m for weight continuos cutting around the 30" i wont tell what i pay for a stihl here yet, as ehp is going to do me a super deal

My 3120 underimpressed me too---stock...Modded, the baby came alive!
With less rpm, it needs big wood to shine versus an 046/066. And an 8 tooth .404 sprocket.....I think that's what I have on mine....and I almost never used the 36 bar I have for it, but leave the 42 on...and bring out the 60 very rarely.

RB i just cant work it out,my local saw dealer/repairer said to steer clear of p/p mods, yet i hear alot of good feedback on here:( the 3120 isnt mine i was just trying to hot run it for him, very dissapointed as i was in a timeframe situation.let me know what yours is runing. 60'' wow now thats alot of sharpening! honestly how does the dolmar rack up against the 46m?

You probably wouldn't care about any difference between the 460 and 7900.  The Dolmar has ever so slightly larger displacement (I forget, is it like 2 cc?) and might outcut the 460 in any given situation by a small margin.  They weigh the same.  No bar installed and dry, the Stihl hangs by the front handgrip with the rear handle about 4" down, the Dolmar about 2" down (I don't remember why we didn't compare them for balance with comparable bars/chain; I'm assuming the Dolmar would be nose heavier).

I haven't compared them side by side, but singly they are both impressive units.  If you've got a bunch of Stihl bars or equipment that shares them, go with the 460.  If Husky, go with the Dolmar.

Your dealer has no clue what he's talking about re saw mods.

Most all my saws, 11 of them, have full woods mods...all ports resized, polished, cylinder dropped down to increase compression and change squish band, mufflers opened up.. all have gains of 35-60% over stock in power.
