can any of you guys in the uk recommend a good insurance company...im looking at insuring all my saws etc.

Yo Steve, I,m currently reviewing Insurances so we'll compare notes soon. I'm consulting with Arborplan at the mo. Their Public Liability quote seems extortionate compared to my previous policy.

Geoff Parish @ Trust Insurance. Have not got his number on me now but will post it on hear on Monday. If you have latest copy of FBT oe Essential Arb his ad in in there.

thanks timber, i dont have essential arb, i'll see if i can find his number online though, if not will get it from you on monday

just a word of advice ,i heard from an insurer that if you get public liability insurance then you MUST or should GET employers insurance the reason is if you have an accident they will want to know if you had a groundsman, if you have no helper they won't pay out as HSE says all tree work should be carried out by at least 2 suitibly qualified persons IE CLIMBER AND GROUNDSMAN..nptc says ya shouldn't be using a chainsaw on your own...minimum cover should be public liability and employers liability for 1 employee that includes subies..you must be insured for subies the 'LAW'

don't take my word for it ask arborplan BRIAN KESIYIC or hse norfolk [agriculturale department]...they'll take your money but if chit hits the fan you could be in the manure yourself...one other thing the main contractor ie who ever gets the job or put's his name to the job should cover his BUTT when useing subies if they have an accident you should have adequate insurance to cover them ,even if they have there own accident cover i bet there insurer will want to claim of off the contractors insurance or they could imo take you to court for not being adequitly insured.....imo public liability and 1 employee cover is the way to go, exspensive yes but hey accidents happen
