Just bought a used Homelite XL with automatic oiler. It started up well, runs well, but I am not getting any perceptible oil onto the chain and bar.
I took it apart, cleaned the oil ports on the bar, and was able to blow air from the oil tank through to the oil port where the bar attaches. The uptake filter looks like new. Still, the chain does not appear to be getting oil. I run the saw, holding the tip of the bar close to a white paper towel, and see no oil; with my previous saws - and my present 036 - I always see oil coming off.
Anyone have any ideas? Is there an oil pump, or is it a venturi or gravity feed? I'm going to try to get a parts manual and maintenance manual, but till I do, if anyone has any thoughts, I would be grateful. Thanks, Doc
