I sure did today! Well not really the customer... more like the customer's neighbor.

I was just getting into my regular routine for this time of year with my good customers... got the truck all set up to do some leaf clean-ups for the good clients that I have. Sure enough my father's friend calls up from a town I haven't worked in for several years (on a regular basis) needing a bunch of trees taken down before the 11th. So I take my truck apart to go back to doing tree work for 3? days... and then I'll have to put it back together again for leaves. Well today the neighbor.... who had been a problem previously by grabbing my tools on the job (just helped himself to the pole saws) decided to make comments every step of the way about what we were doing. Everybody on my crew of 3 wanted to clock him in the head, or just say "#### go back in your house." Guy was telling one of my crewmembers how to make the cuts in this one BIG locust that was leaning back towards his wires... and how to drop some other trees, and why are you doing this and blah blah blah. I could have lived with all of that stuff.. however when I got back to my garage I find that one of my saws is missing! Drove back over to the guy's house because I think I know where it had been placed in the afternoon... can't find it. Scoured the property, can't find it. It's only an 026, but that's still a good $500 to replace. Guy made comments about how we dumped the chips, and how they will be spread and so forth.. sorry for the rant, but I am MAD. I mean the job should be worth $4,000+/-, but because it's a friend of my father's I am gonna be pressured into charging more like $2,000 +/- So I am getting beat here twice.

dont you love it when they hire you to do the work and they already know how to do it better than you? shouldnt they have just done it themselves then? if it makes you feel any better someone had the great idea of setting a 441 down behind me while i was running a skid steer and i ended up backing over it. that really p**** me off.

Yeah well I took my pick up in to the shop the other day. i usually do everything myself but it needed to be put on a lift for some visuals and some wrenching.
So I was going over the list with Steve and all and kinda just talking. After about 1/2 hour and after we got situated with what was going to get done Mike comes in and drives me home. I understood completely cause if I had someone, anyone, standing over my shoulder while I fooled around with rusty brake lines I would go mad too. In fact... I have if you could possibly believe that.

really sorry about the saw, that really sucks. I would ask the people straight up about it and probably go over and snoop at night. Lord help me if I found it.

The neighbor grabbed your tools to work on his own stuff while you were working a job??????? WHAT??!!!!!!!:jawdrop:

I don't care who he is, that guy would get a face full of ugly he didn't see coming. :chainsaw: Neighbors to jobs suck. they always have something to say. Usually, to drive them crazy, I ignore them completely, no response at all. Eventually, they go away.

Just another reason why I don't let civilians on the job site.

Stealing another man's tools is a big NO-NO.

Last Christmas I came home for a few days to see the fam. I hadn't been home in 10 months, I was away on a project in South Texas. After all of the festivities, I walked into the garage. I noticed something was out of place. I looked at the wall where all of my saws would usually be. Of the 8 or so that should have been on the racks, only an 026 was still there.

I came to find out that my a-hole sister had taken my saws to the local tool rental store and sold them for 80 bucks each because she decided getting addicted to pain meds was a good idea. I was unable to get them back, the guy at the place denied ever buying them, and refused to let me in the back to see my saws. I lost: 1 MS200T, 1 MS290, 1 036, 1 039 1 044, 1 066, and 1 HT101. Upon further inspection, I realized that I was also missing 2 600' spools of Samson 3/4" 3-strand rigging line and 2 complete sets of climbing gear (buck saddles and spurs, but still...). I was enraged. Needless to say, Christmas was ruined.

My sister has since cleaned up, but I will never forgive her for that. We are on good terms now, but, I mean... jesus! The only saws I had left were the ones I had on my truck in TX that I had taken with me on the project, an 036 and an 066. I have spent way too much money replacing the saws and gear she sold off for drug money.

Good luck getting your saw back, I feel your pain bro.

is this the same sister you prostituted into being a groundie, didn't she learn that your tools were valuable?

Stealing a man's tool's is stealing his livelihood, plain and simple, that's what he uses to put food on the table.I think I would probably end up in jail if any of my equipment were stolen, and the thief would have a tough time eating solids when I was done with them.

Consider yourself very lucky to never have had any tools (or guns) stolen.
