I have a Granberg MK-III @ 36" but have been offered a log much wider. I see on the Granberg website they sell a Handle and Rail Set which I assume can be used to widen my mill...

Has anyone used this kit? I'm wondering if my MS-660 would preform well powering a 56" mill? I don't have a MS-880 :( Yet

I did see they offered a rail set. I ran my 066 on a 48 inch mill and a 56 inch bar and I'd say it did fine. I wouldn't recommend being in a hurry or pushing the mill any harder then you have to. That being said, a 56 inch mill with a even bigger bar would be a little to much. My saw eventually had bearing failure to the abuse I put it through.

I hope that helps. BB

Haven't used the kit.
IF
you muff mod the 660 or put a DP muff on it should handle 40 or so inches of bar. Mine do. I don't think they would handle 50" plus alone. That's why I'm looking for a double ended bar to mount both 660's on.
