I'm glad to find this site. I own 100 acres in east central texas that comes with the usual problems of yaupon and cedar overgrowth. I am interested in having someone forest mow this stuff and I would like to know what a fair price for this service is, say on an hourly basis. Bulldozer work in the area is about 75/hr. I have been quoted by two different people: 120/hr for a "drum" like mower that has teeth on it (he says it's a 30K piece of equipment); and 110/hr for a "flat" front end mounted blade mower (he says it's a 6K piece of equipment).

I've really no interest in purchasing one of these as I assume the maintenance is no fun, and I'd like a long term business relationship with one of these people since there's a lot to do.

Can anyone provide some guidance on how to establish a fair bargain and what a fair price might be?

Thanks,
Leo

mulching

Around here the guys that run those forestry mulching heads on machines like the ASV or T300 bobcat get between $120-$250 dollars an hour. I know thats a big range, but thats what I know. I would think for a smaller machine $120-$150 would be pretty fair.
