Interested but not wanting to spend

I'm a little suspicious.

The guy looks the part.
But he isn't cutting level on his first cut.
We all make mistakes. But generally you'd edit those out in a how-to video.

Take us to at least a couple punch lines.

I wouldn't mind having a good video of this type. I don't need the ins and outs of climbing and such, but the other subjects and learning the terms of the trade would be interesting.

I will second that...................

This is in no way his fault, but the guy looks like John Holmes.
The music at the beginning fits that theme too.

He stutters through a lot of parts that should have been re-shot.

I liked when he cut down a tree, and both he AND the cameraman RAN AWAY.
Even my wife said, "Couldnt the camera man stand back far enough to be safe and just zoom in?"
I was like, um, if he were a professional I suppose.
the entire hand held look of it was EXTREMELY low budget.

I was also checking out some safety errors, and noted the following

Running while saw is running.
Leather chaps (do these do anything?)
no eye protection whatsoever
short sleeve shirt (I am guilty of this sometimes, but this is a safety video!)
reving saw while walking.
Sticking entire arm in notch (my seven year old asked me what if he got his hand stuck in there)
cutting backcut at an angle,

In the final segment of the video, there is a written warning against cutting/falling in wind, and the text is layed over video shot after he felled the tree, and you can see the trees swaying IN THE WIND.

I just laughed at the misspellings, the poor production, the guys cutting technique (are you supposed to constantly rev the throttle like a superbike while cutting?)

there are also some scenes where the cameraman deliberately zooms in on the manufacturer logo on the saws. Made me wonder if they were hoping to sell this to one of them.

I would be willing to send this video to a senior member of the site, to analyze, and comment on, but I am not going to post it out of respect for copyright laws.

oh boy

Alright Mr. Musch:

You blew it.
I'm gonna have to buy this now.

Sometimes a good training video can be the one where the students get to point out the good and the bad.

Plus, if has some humor, more likely to keep them awake after lunch.

Interestingly, the D. Douglas Dent falling training films from 30 plus years ago had some footage that should have been edited out. Back then shooting film and editing it were much more difficult and spendy.
No excuses in this day and age though.

How would you know what John Holmes looked like?

Just ordered mine.

Start the wait by the mailbox tomorrow.

Hope it comes in a plain brown wrapper.
