Hi all, I e got a big dead yellow box to fall for a customer that wants it milled. The tree is in a paddock so there is nothing that it can damage when falling.

This yellow box measure 5.6m in circumference and approx 30m in height.
By my calculations the tree is approx 1.8m in diameter.

I am thinking that I will climb the tree and put a pull line in to ensure it falls in the intended direction.
Cut a large open face notch close to ground level to control all the way to the ground with as small as possible drop from the stump.
Plunge cut the back leaving a trigger to prevent the tree tipping early and prevent a barber chair.

Will also be strapping the trunk with a chain above the cut to ensure it stays intact with minimal cracking.

I have 4,5,6,7 foot bars, I'm
Thinking of using the 4foot bar for felling the tree as it provides the longest cut with most control, for me anyway.

Is there anything that I haven't though about? I've fallen a fair bit of timber however nothing this big.

Another option is have two saws with you one to start the cut, and a large saw with a long bar on. I'm not sure I'd back strap it personally especially if you need to wedge it.
