Hey, I want to make a friction saver with some rope, biner and pulley. does anyone have some advice or pictures about how to go about this? I really want to cut down on the friction in my climbs and on the tree limbs. Thanks.

use the search function of the site. Try typing in false crotch and you'll come up w/ all sorts of threads to browse through. Look for pics and you should find many great examples.

K, am aware that I can do a search on the subject because I did, but searching through hundreds of pages I couldnt find any pictures of how the setup should look. Also, the search, even though there are quotes around the words, will search for both false and crotch, which is why there are 235 postings, not because the subject has been covered in so much detail.

thanks for the links everyone. Tom, i was looking for to make a pully/biner FC in order to really cut down on friction, but I'm a little unclear about it. On a double ring style false crotch, you run the rope through both rings. So, with a biner and pulley set up, would i run through both as well? Because that sounds like it would still be dragging on the biner and not using the pulley. Or would it run through the pulley alone? Maybe I should just buy one of those leather deals like Panthro got and call it good. But if I can throw in a pulley, I could save my rope, my energy and the hurt on the tree. I will try and draw a picture of my confusion.

Sizzle,

You don't expect to have us do all f your homework for you do you? :)

Go and read thruogh some of those threads. You'll get so much more information and details. If you spend much time at this or other arbo forums yuo'll find that there are topics that come up on a routine basis. Instead of hashing all of the same old thing over and over it's polite and good netiquette to do some research. Then, if there are any details that you don't understand, ask away.

If you have a ring and ring FC you can reuse the strap. Cut off the big ring and replace it with anHMS biner. My fav is the ISC Gecko. On the small ring end you can add an MR screwlink and pulley. Make sure that all fo the components are rated for 5k# or 23 kN.

The biner/pulley FC is more effecient than the rope saver tubes but not as effecient as the RG style FC.

okay, Im not trying to split any hairs here, but I did a lot of research. I spent way too long trying to find these answers before asking you all. I'll just work it out on my own.

I figured it out guys, dont need any more advice. Dont worry bout ol sizzle chest. He's got a false crotch now.

LETS CONSIDER THE SUBJECT CLOSED!!!!

If I could delete the thread I would .. . . :dizzy:

Sizzle, let us see your setup now! You got us all interested and we wanna know how you got it all hammered out!
