Went to a local farm auction yesterday & look what followed me home.

Wife didnt even notice it in the garage because I already have 3 of em (this one makes 4)

Not bad for $65

Got the paperwork & manual to. Was bought new in 1974.

Awesome find, Mike! I can't remember if I ever got to run one of those, but I know the first tree service I worked for had one or more, just not on our crew that I know of. I do recall once manning the stinger end of an old gear driven Homelite with a 5 or 6 foot bar, to cut 13 inch rounds from a 5 foot butted maple.

That and the 2100 Homie have great reputations, and some guys still compete with the 2100, I recall, though maybe not against modern saws....

Its a little dirty & the carb is set too rich.

Im going to put a kit in it & clean it up.

Piston & cyl. look great & comp. feels on par with the other ones that I have.

has a new stihl chain & a new rim

Dont know if that is the original bar or not, but I know they have not made that style bar in quite a while.

For $65 I couldnt be happyer

There were a lot of guys looking at it & all I heard was "Well its not a stihl"

And "Its hard to turn over, there is something wrong with it." Read: It has great comp. or "It sure is a heavy old beast"

I think everyone there thought it was a POS

Scott, I ended up putting an electronic coil on my XL-2

I didnt think they would fit. I havent fired it up yet, but she should go.

They actually fired it up when the bidding began on it.

Wow, what a deal, awesome. I had a friend who had a 925 many years ago, first one I ever seen. He sat on the taligate of his truck one evening and filed and filed and filed on the chain. He finally fired it up and dropped that thing in log. Needless to say it was honkin. Never seen such big wood chips flying out of a log, that saw was awesome. Great find on that 925..............

I cut all my bigger firewood with a 925 last year. It was an awesome saw, with a sharp chain the chips really do fly.

My wife dosen't know what is in my garage, the door spring broke and she can't lift it. :hmm3grin2orange: ...Bob
