Stopped by the big spring farm auction on the way home from work. There were several Stihl's, I'm not up on Stihl's but here's what I remember, a couple 038's, a 390 Farm Boss, a small saw that looked almost new and a couple 024's or 028's. There were 2 Homelite 330's, the one in the plastic case looked like new. A BIG, Heavy, Wards. An Echo that had a 3 ft bar (bar was brand new,no chain), it may have been a 750. Then in another barn there was about 8 various Echo's all smaller. A Sears that looked vary much like a Homelite XL12. All this stuff is spread out in about 8 buildings and 2 big fields. Besides the saws there is a gas powered golf cart that has the motor clutches and controls I need for my John Deere Gator. Trucks, boats, tractors, tools and trash. I don't know how I'm gonna bid because they're gonna have 5 to 7 auctioneers going at the same time. Bidding starts with the guns at 9:00AM. I'll take my camera and get pics of all the saws before the sale starts. Oh, and for Bob over on the milling site. There is a bunch of great big machine shop equipment that looks like it's from the 30's or 40's. A big metal band saw with a throat that's about 14 to 16 inches high and 3ft wide, Lathes, press's, it's all big and cast iron. Pics tomorrow, Joe.

Good luck!

People get frantic to walk away with something.I heard the guy who paid a
100 say I'm sick of this ( competion) and blew the 10 / 20 / 30 bids away
with 100..........Good luck though ya never know.Generally a fun day out.

It never seems to fail at a farm auction that if it's John Deere green and yellow, (tractors), or it says Stihl or Husky, it usually sells at some OUTRAGEOUS price. I saw a wore out JD 4430 sell with over 7000 hours on it at a price that was unbelievable. The International 966, with 4500 hours and the Ford 8000 with 5000 some odd hours went for 1/3 of the price of the John Deere. At the same sale they had four saws, an Stihl 038, 034, 021 and a Homelite VI 955 with a 24 inch bar. You would have thought the heavens had opened when the Stihls sold. The 034 and 021 ran, they never could get the 038 or the Homie to fire. I sure as :censored:wasn't going to help them. All three Stihls sold for money that was just crazy, including the 038. When the old Homie sold, there was only three of us bidding, it came home with me. Got her running took her to my Pa In Law, who thinks its too big. Not bad for $55.00 bucks.

Take friends, go early, pick out what you really want to buy, don't be bashful, get right in the middle of em, look the auctioneer right in the eye when your're bidding. Some times you can get some great deals.

We also have a local consignment this Sat and Sun. Went up for a look see this afternoon, a bunch of stuff with little of interest to me. They have pictures posted at www.bakerbonnigsonrealty.com if anyone wants to take a look.

hey rare,
where the heck is this at?
some of maryland is only a 1/2 hour drive from me.

Sorry Volks, I work the night shift and by 4 in the afternoon I'd been up 20 hrs so I crashed. PM sent. It's a long all day sale, if your in the Montgomery Co area try to make it, I won't bid against you if I know you are there. I want to bid on the motor for my Gator and maybe some of the Homey stuff and the big Echo, Joe.

Hey Volks, just thinkin, if you can make it I only live a few minutes fron the sale. I'll treat you to a cold one if you want to stop over and see all my stuff. If you make the sale, I'll be easy to find, I'll be driving my 66 Fury convertable and it will be parked close to the entrance with the top down and a 4 sale sign on it. There's about 20 acres of parking and it tends to fill up, it's a big sale, Joe.

You got that right. All you have to do to double the price of a tractor or a part is paint it green.

Sorry guys, I'll have to post the pics in the mornig, I'm too tired. A little recap though. The big Echo turned out to be a CS 8000 P with killer compression. It had a brand new bar on it. I'm not up on after market bars but it was made in Australia. It sold for $65 and I dropped out at about $40. Two little Echo power heads that will be in the pics didn't get a bid and they threw them in with other baskets of stuff and one went for $10 and the other for $5.Here's the list in the order that I took the pics so when I get them posted they should match up:

038 Stihl
CS 8000 P Echo
142 Husky
18" Dayton
47023 Dayton
27970 dayton
4000 Poulan
19" Wards
038 AV Stihl
3400 Poulan
010 StihXL Homey
Old Remmington (that's the one I thought was a David Bradley yesterday)
346 Echo and another smaller one with ID gone
MS 310 Stihl
MS 290 Stihl
330 Homey
3400 Poulin.

The 330 Homy was in the plastick case and looked like absolute brand new. I really wanted to see if I could get it. They had several auctioneerts going at once and I was bidding on a 1930's Coca Cola tin cooler and when I got over to the next building I missed it, more tomorrow, Joe.

Nope, no saws. My #1 reason for going to the sale was to get an engine for my John Deere Gator, there were 2 junk golf carts that had the motor and clutches I need but one went for $950 and the other for $350. They had too many Auctioneers going, and my partner in crime couldn't come help me, he had to help his daughter get ready to go to San Diego. Her husband got deployed. When I said the big Echo went for $65 doesn't mean I could have got it for $65. I talked to the guy that bought it and he said he wanted it bad and would have gone a lot higher. There were 6 open barnes and 5 block buildings and the saws were spread out in all of the buildings and a couple out in the fields. The only ones I actually gotto see sell were the 3 Echos. Here are the pics. Sorry, there're in reverse order from how I listed them.
