That's all of the pics I got. There were 6 or 8 more that I didn't get pics of. They were medium to smaller Poulans that were inside of the buildings. When they started selling the guns at 9AM they had over 5000 registered bidders, people were getting kinda testy of me taking up space inside to take the pics. One happy thing, not one single Wild Thing or Wood shark. Here are a couple more pics of what I think is cool stuff. I wanted to bid on the big band saw but I was in another field when it went off, Joe.

Trying to get some perspective on how big this sale is, the one row of stuff in the last pic, well there are 15 of those rows, six open barns, 5 closed buildings, and a 3 acre field of mowers, lawn and garden tractors, golf carts, and any other kind of gas powered junk.

There were a lot of things I really wanted to bid on and didn't get to see go off. I only had $200 (and a credit card). The only thing I bought was a 4 foot mower that tows behind a 4 wheeler with it's own 10.5 horse Briggs. I paid $450 for it and with the 12% buyers premium for using a credit card and the 6% MD sales tax I spent over $500. i can tow the mower behind my 54" cut Deere and have a 98" over all cut, minus a little over lap. It takes me over a day to cut my field in West Virginia, so I'm hoping that will reduce mowing time a lot, Joe

Now, here's the deal. For those that want to beat me up for not saving all of the saws. I only wanted to bid on 2 saws, the big Echo and the 330 Homey, and I missed the Homey all together. They hold this sale twice a year. The next one is the second Sat of Oct. I'll post info a week or so before it comes up. They start filling up the fields about Wed, and a ton of stuff doesn't come in till friday night. The staff is there till about midnight checking stuff in. Anyone that wants to spend the night and keep me company is welcome. I got there before 8 and by about 3 oclock I thought my HEMROIDS were hanging down to my knees, and every riding mower had a big fat lady sitting on it. It was HOT and a bottle of water is $3, a Coke is $4. A big pork barbeque platter with fries and slaw is $8. That's the best I can do, Joe.

shoot,
don't let the saw-vultures get to ya.
i've been to a sale with multiple auctioneers and it is not easy to be in two or more places at once to get all your wantings.

i'd say you did good enough just getting your tow mower.

Good looking mower, the dog seems to like it, you're happy....I'd say you had a good day. There's lotsa saws around.

That is a good sale. This weekend we will have one here that is simlar. They start at 8:30AM with 3 auctioneers. At 9:00Am it goes to 5 and goes all day and night. They sell well into the night. I have been there well after dark watching then selling farm equipment with flashlights.

Is that the 48 or 52 inch deck?

The tow behind is a 44" with a 10.5 Briggs and the JD has a 54". I put gas in the tow behind and a shot of starting fluid and it purs like a kitten. The tongue is a little flimsy, but it only wieghs 225lbs. I'm going to put a 1 7/8 ball hitch on it so I don't have to pull the ball off every time I want to use it, Joe.

I've been gong to this sale since the 70's, it's a social event for my friends and me. A couple years ago my wife asked if I wanted to go to my 30 yr high school reunion. It was a couple hundred bucks. I said heck no, all the old friends I want to see, I see at the spring and fall sales, and it only costs me 8bucks for the pork bar-b-q- platter, Joe.

That is a good way to look at it. I go to quite a few large consignment auctions here each spring. The big one I mentioned earlier is this Saturday. The one thing I hate about it is the poor parking. They have a long narrow mud lot that everyone gets stuck in. The other option is parking off site and riding an old school bus. The auction company drives an old bus around up and down the gravel roads picking up people.

First post, Here goes.

Ive a small parcel of land where i grow my own produce and sell at my gate, it dont reap huge rewards but i get by. In one corner about 20 feet by 20 it has about 15 trees that are no more than 6 inch in diameter and about 20 foot tall, ive been planning on clearing this area and digging a pond to use to irrigate my vegetable plots. Needing a chainsaw i started searching the web and stumbled across this site, hopefully the decision to purchase one of the ms210-ms250 is the right one, as i think a used one is just within my budget.
So i set off yesterday to an auction about 50 miles away where a selection of saws was forsale taking with me a litre of 2 stroke petrol mixed to 40-1 so i could fuel up a saw that i was intrested in to see if it worked, as ive bought at auctions before and most things seem to have little or no fuel in. Anyway i found a nice Ms230 14 inch bar and chain and put my mix in and it fired and ran well the orange plastics were dull and scratched but it was a nice running saw.

Are these prices over inflated or do i need to re-evaluate my budget?

Now the auction starts and i get in a good position, Bidding opens up at £20 and quickly gets over my budget, sold for £170. Is that too much for the saw? also there was 10 percent buyers premium to pay as well as vat @17.5 percent.

Below are the saws that were forsale and the prices they made. ive added the models to the ones that arnt shown.

Hey RF...Can't believe I missed this thread earlier as I might have joined you at the auction. I live in the southwest corner of the beltway and absolutely love to attend farm/equipment auctions.
