Looking at buying a logging winch. Would like to winch/yard tree length hard wood right out of the woods to the house and cut a few softwood saw logs. Currently junk up firewood in woods and haul out with trailer, and pull any saw logs out with log chain/drawbar. Looking to reduce labor and amount of "roads" that need to be cut.
Plan to mount winch on a 2wd Case IH 495 (42 PTO HP/ 50 engine HP) 14.9-28 R1 tires loaded with CaCl, have studded ice chains for real hard going. About a 6000lb tractor with loader and ballast on it.
The 351 seems to be a good fit?
Any reason to consider the 501 or JL50 over the 351?
Is the band brake on the 50 better than the notched lock on the 501?
Some stuff I read says the 501 and JL50 are only cat II 3pt, some say cat I or II (tractor is set up Cat I and I like it that way) Which is it?
