I ask this because I know for me there are certain trees I dread climbing and others I can't wait to get up in, so I figured I'd get some feed back from other climbers out there on how they feel about there fav/least fav trees to climb.

Favorite to prune/ climb are beach or old maples with large spreads, or anything with a large spread and good branch structure. Least favorite to prune are Russian olive (thorny) and Siberian elm (tangled mess). Least favorite to climb and remove are black cottonwood because of very weak crotches.

For removals: hate cottonwood and spruce. Love ponderosa, fir, and sycamore.

For Me my favorite tree to prune would be a Linden tree ,least fav to prune Elm , fav to remove big Beech trees and I hate doing Black Locust removals I just don't trust those trees with their shallow root system.

Im not a big fan of Poplar or Cottonwood, and for some reason Hemlock makes me sneeze non stop. Love pruning big Oaks, Walnut, and Maple Trees with large canopy's that you can swing around in. Honestly, I get tired of blocking down fir trees but that's a vast majority of my removals.

Favorite to prune is live oak
Least favorite to prune is shady lady black olive
Favorite to remove is Norfolk pine
Least favorite to remove is fishtail palm

Least favorite to remove is Alianthus. very brittle, stinky and heavy.
Favorite to remove, any kind of oak or male. Firewood!!
Favorite to trim or prune, maple/oak
Least favorite prune/trim, hawthorne, elm,

Yeah, forgot about ****ing locust! I also like to remove Siberian elm because it means there is one less to prune in Missoula!

My fav would be oaks, love those big open canopys that ya can move around in and your TIP is something of size. I always end up with smaller trees that have no good TIP and are so full of epi's that ya cant move and tied in on a small 4-5incher. Oaks ya get those massive 12-16" TIPS that make ya wanna do a tarzan
