Fertilizing Fir Trees

When I had my tree service over 20 years ago we used 10-6-4 fertilizer for evergreen trees. Been looking around and 10-6-4 isn't available many places. What would be a good fertilizer to feed them in the spring, thanks.

I would just use something like 10-10-10. Its common and available in pellets and for dissolving in water. Avoid grass fertilizer with ammonia or urea. They are too high in nitrogen.

You can also use wood ash (high in K) and rock phosphate (high in P), and some high nitrogen fertilizer watered down to 1/3 strength (like pee at 12:1 water to pee).

I use this product, Jobes fertilizer spikes and they work well. They have a whole line of produces for different tree, evergreens, shade trees, fruit, etc.
