Here's some pictures of red oak I free handed the other day. I'm going to make some small shelves to put some of my toy skidders on.

Looks pretty good for free-hand.
Now you have to get a mill - I think I see you have a big saw in your signature line.
 
Wow - they are amazingly straight and smooth for freehanding - well done! They will make nice shelves.

Are the darker lines in them cracks or just some kind of mark on the surface?

Do you plan to dry them before using them?

I have a big saw but a friend of mine has a bandmill. I don't really need a mill unless I find something real big that I don't want to cut in half or quarters first.

The tree was cut over a year ago. Most of it has seasoned some but I'm going to let it sit another few months on some of the pieces. The darker lines are from the chain trying to walk just a little in the cut. It's hard to keep the saw from pulling into the log and gets the dawgs in. Freehand is hard to do on pieces that are longer than the bar for sure. I've got a couple pieces that I think are going to be good enough to make a small bench or table out of.
