I have been running all summer long and have not had a lot of time for the milling, but tomorrow I have the whole day slated for the mill and a decent sized poplar tree down, bucked up to length with some great crotches and character pieces. I just love a good crotch now and again...

Yeah I know, that's a horrible line, I just couldn't help it.

Heh, I always have to watch what I say because the term "crotchwood" apparently has either no meaning or a very very different meaning to non-woodworkers/millers! I've gotten more than a few sideways looks after letting that slip out.

Take pics of your day tomorrow, especially of your crotch! lol.

Well, got a couple of logs milled up today, have four more to go. Have to take more pics of the wood I slabbed, was only able to get some of the setup. I will take more this evening and post. Finally tried using my mini mill after the first log to start the first cut, wish I had been doing this all along, much easier than a frame work and I did not notice any difference the quality of the cut. My son enjoyed the setup.

Here are some more pics, think I just finally figured out how to use photobucket. Here's a view from my back deck.

I'm not a Photobucket user so I can't really help you out there, but it looks like you're maybe just copying the thumbnails instead of the full-size images?

Yeah once you get used to using the mini-mill, you'll never give it up. I built mine myself and it's crude at best, but it saves me a ton of time. The full Alaskan gets a lot of use still, though.

I built the mini-mill a couple of months ago and I have not been able to use it much, but I tell you what, I love it. I made some of the adjustments that Bob showed on the thread I put on about it and it works great like that. I run the 045 on it with the 20" bar and full chisel chain. Nice to not have to re-adjust the Alaskan every time I go from one log to another.
