2 1/2". How do you guys price out your slabs? Do you figure out the board foot or just throw numbers at each slab depending on species and how well it dries?

I love that last slab. It's probably worth about $10 shipped. ;) PM your PayPal info and I'll give you my address. :D

Awesome slabs!

Hahaha sounds good. Thanks Shawn. Have you ever sold anything you've milled?

Not yet, but I've got a couple future sales lined up to some close friends. One is a coworker who also dabbles in woodworking, and the other is a commission job for a mantel piece. I'm not sure what I'm going to charge for any of it yet. I was planning to keep it all for myself until I filled 1/4 of my garage in a summer.

I still think I'll extract the most value from it by working it myself. I had a couple pieces that looked much like yours, which got "ruined", because I didn't dry them carefully. I had them standing on end in my very dry workshop all summer. The crotch ends cracked, and the straight parts twisted (pieces like that must be stickered and weighted immediately). So those 2 are in the process of becoming butcher block cutting boards and book matched walnut crotch veneers. :D

Those blocks look good. Yeah we have them all stacked and stickered. I did not the best job with my cherry and got a lot of cracks and stuff but I attribute it to leaks in my tarp and the kind of wood.

I'm now milling for a tree company so we will be looking to sell a lot of the wood. I literally have 100's of logs at
My disposal and I'm really excited about it.

Hopefully I can convince him to invest in a band mill.

Bigoak ain't jivin' talking ya'll. Hundred logs plus skid steers and yardhands to help. 9 miles from my place. I'm waiting on new chains and an 84" double ender. Some are 6' +.
