Anyone try this new wheel and teeth combo? Called Alpine Magnum lastnight to get pricing on handheld stump grinder with chainsaw motor. The owner told me about his brand new in production tooth and wheel set up. Sounds awesome, 30 day $ back, claimed faster than Greenteeth. Anyone try one yet?

Alpine Rhino Wheel and Teeth for Stump Grinders

Concepts of cutting wheels, teeth and hand help Alpine

Green Mfg. has a wheel concept on the market for larger machines. The rhino concept gets my interest but both my machines (Husqvarna SG-13 and Beeline SP-13) are 13 HP, preferred for several reasons of working in the Ozarks. Using Green Teeth size #500 I am getting some improved cutting effects compared to old style teeth (Bluebird). But a new Green tooth broke last week at the stem thread after just two hours of use.
In 2008 I almost bought a Praxis machine after seeing them at the TCIA Expo Milwaukee. I have often wondered if any AS members have tried Praxis and how it worked for them.

I put a Rhino wheel on my Dosko 691 and wow what an improvement in cutting speed. I used to let the grinder simply ride on the stump with greenteeth and now I have to hold it back, way more tiring but wow so much faster. I took out a 24" elm in just under 10 minutes, which was way faster than when I had the greenteeth. The main reason I switched was because I was tired of how much horsepower was sucked out from diggin in the dirt chasing the bottom of the stump. I dont have this issue now using the rhino wheel.

Those alpine magnums have been around forever. They're affectionately called 'backbreakers' in aus. There are numerous powerhead options and they all suck. They're heavy, slow and awful to operate, but you can in fact pick them up and carry them if you have no concern for your spinal health. They can be used to make big ass money grinding stumps where no other grinder can go, but if there was any other option you'd take the other option ;-) You can't really 'sweep' with this machine, you have to kind of 'peck' away at the stump. Think of it as being faster than a blunt axe and you'll be happy with it. Be sure and charge by the hour.

There's one up for grabs in aus now with the k1250 as a powerhead. The owner will pay you $2500 if you'll take it away ;-)
