I just got my Shaver 165 and am getting it hooked up.

Has anyone out there lined their OWB with firebrick, that does not come with it?

tried it with my last boiler(wasn't a shaver)....had the replace them all the time as throwin' wood in it would bust them so i took them out...never seen any gain...

I have a shaver 290 and have also considered this, if you try it out, post install pic's and let us know how it works.

I heard of someone who took a 1/4" piece of steel and welded it the back of his stove from the bottom rear to the front top and left a gap for the air to travel around it. He also added firebrick. Huge gains and much less wood he claimed. Not sure if I would want to do this to a new furnace but if it works....??
