Did read early on (a week or two ago) that the Whitewater-Baldy fire (currently at 270,000 acres)...the management team looked at the fire, looked at the terrain, looked at the resources...and started planning for it to reach 360,000 acres!

A lot of that is them figuring the safest & cheapest thing to do is a sequence of falling back to good lines and burn out between there and the main fire until they eventually pinch it all off.

Anybody hear from Redprospector? Anybody know if the fires are in his area?

Hey Bob, I'm still kickin'.
Whitewater-Baldy fire is on the West side of the State. I'm South Central.
The Little Bear fire is about 45 miles North of me. Last I heard it was at 27,000 acres and no containment, and that was last night. It was closing in on Capitan (where Smokey Bear was originaly found) home of our district office for State Forestry. I missed the news so I'll have to look it up online.
As of last night the Little Bear fire had consumed 36 structures (most of them homes) as it went through the North end of Ruidoso, NM.

I think the FS has decided that it will be cheaper and easier to take care of a moonscaped forest than to fight to keep what we have. Those folks that think that New Mexico is all desert may soon be right. :bang:

Sounds about right but I'm sorry to hear it. Glad to see you're still getting up before breakfast.

Yep, life goes on.
I had been home about 30 minutes when I posted last night. I had been working on equipment so the guy's could go to work this morning.
Who was that lyin' SOB that convinced me how great it would be to own my own business? Oh yeah, I guess that was me......before I owned my own business.
