I am doing my first 10-10 and I noticed plastic block between carb/tank and cylinder intake restricts intake flow a lot . Should I open it up to match intake port ? What simple porting would you do to cylinder ? Don’t want to change timing just make it run better. Any tips would be very welcomed . Where would you source new rings ?

You definitely want to look at the "Official McCulloch thread" in the brand specific section .
Sometimes people open the intake up but haven't seen any surprises in performance, usually a good rering will do wonders.
