First time milling!

I've had a mill for a few weeks and finally had a chance to try it out today. I'm using my Jonsered 2094 with an adjustable 42" mill. Thanks to BobL for starting the Milling 101 thread. I've read that and all the other threads I thought might help me. I only milled a small Norfolk Pine log but everything went real smooth. Now I understand why you want to keep the log at waist level and sloping down hill. I have a few different kinds of wood to mill, including a fairly big crotch piece of Koa. I'll post some pics when I get something interesting to show.

I'll take some pics next time. I have some silver oak to mill which I read is/was used a lot in Australia for cabinet making. It may go by a different name for you. Have you ever worked with it? It has a lace pattern grain.

You are right. The resort I work for buys a lot of serving trays and display shelves from me. They like the natural look and I can custom fit it to what they need.
