Sweet every time I go there they are out of everything I'm looking for. I've been thinking about fiskars tools for splitting wood I have the pole saw and it's awesome is the maul worth it? Or even the axe I've read a lot about them breaking with one wrong swing

Idk what you have read but it wasn't on this site. There are plenty of threads on the X27 splitting axe that proves the opposite regarding durability. I have both the X27 and there ISOcore maul. The X27 really is a fun tool and I think it is brilliant. It's very effective for its weight and the handle is durable. The ISOcore is a good tool but it's not as impressive as the X27. It splits more like traditional maul but the handle is top notch as far as comfort/grip and anti vibe. I've split 7 cord per year for the last 3 years with mine and just got the ISOcore this spring.

Yea I never really considered buying the maul cause mine works fine and takes a beating. I've been thinking about buying the axe for next spring since I stack about 7 chords and refuse to buy a splitter. I have read plenty about the axe on this site but never really read much about the maul.

The maul doesn't seem to be any more effective than a traditional maul of the same weight. However, it doesn't seem to get suck nearly as much which is a nice quality. Of course, maybe those $150+ forged German mauls have some magic in them but idk because I've never used on. I can't believe they are much more effective than the ISOcore. Even if they were, would it be worth twice the price? I bet you one thing, the ISOcore would have better vibration dampening than the wooden handled German magic mauls.

Buy one, you won't be sorry. I put it off and put it off for many a year until I finally bought one. Next day I used it and been kicking my rear ever since for all the years I did without. I do 10+ cord year with it, the hydr splitter only sees teh tough stuff, knots, crotches etc. The maul has been relegated to using for tapping on the fiskars if the split didn't quite finish plus beating knots and such apart.

Regarding Fiskars durability, I've split about 40 cords with my X27 with some serious overstrikes and have had zero issues (@benp has split significantly more than me with similar results). FWIW if you want a splitting axe, get the Husky S2800 as it is of similar design but works better than the X27.

The Fiskars X15 chopping axe is the best chopping tool that I've ever used and I used to own several Gransfors axes as well as several other quality American models. I see Baileys has some Fiskars stuff on sale, may want to pick up another one or two if they are included.

I'm curious how well the Isocore would work for me. Everyone that has used one seems to be very happy.

I was using an isocore today along with my x27. Maul for the big stuff and hard to split stuff and the splitting axe for the rest. It was fun to use and didn't hurt my elbow.I had fun. It also does fine for hitting a wedge. I like s2800 but the handle is too short for my frame. Think I'm gonna unload it on some one shorter....

I bought one last year and really like it. I get bullheaded about stubborn rounds with knots and can put a lot of force behind a maul. I broke a few wooden handles without overstriking and got tired of buying and changing them. The isocore has proven to be strong and is comfortable to use. I do think it has the warranty that others have mentioned which is nice if it ever does fail.

Love mine, combined with the X27 you can put some serious hurt on rounds.

Ive been splitting some over the past few day with it and the x27. I really like it. Good for diving wedges as well.

I just recently bought an Isocore to use along side my X27. Like most I used it on the bigger rounds and the nasty knotty ones. I was splitting some Sugar Maple rounds that were about 20" diameter with it and it performed well. It usually took about 3 good whacks with the Isocore before the round would split.

The Isocore definitely has it's place and I'm glad I have it. But I don't think I would want to swing that thing all day that's for sure. I get a lot more tired swinging the Isocore than I do the X27.

My son and i have been using mine for two weeks on some 35 inch red oak.... i prefer it.... i can swing it for a good while
