Anyone ever done this? Got the bar off an old Remington PL-5. Bar has the rollernose. From what I read on here, this tip is the stuff of minor legends.

By the looks of the bar mount, it appears the oil hole will line up. The tensioner slot is in more or less the correct location, but being that it's bigger than the tensioner pin it will have alot of slop. I just have to widen the slot for the studs. No big deal there.

The bar itself is in prett decent shape. It's .063 gauge and I have some 3/8 chisel for that. I'll just true it up on the belt sander. Rollernose is in good shape with no slop.

Mix and match bars

I have a complete,small machine shop,but ,bar mods,can be easily done with die grinder,or Dremel tool,just not as fast.If you have a mill,use carbide,but don't try any "climb milling",you will snap the cutter,like a piece of glass.:(

I'm going to go at it with a die grinder tomorrow. According to Bailey's the bar slot for Stihl is.425 vs. the bar slot for Remington/Homelite of .375. I think a .050 difference is easily surmountable. I have nothing time tomorrow anyhow.

Thanks, Chris B.

Off Topic:

CBFarmall, I'm going to sell my restored D17. I don't think I'll use it anymore. If you hear of anyone interested, let me know. Power steer but narrow front. Excellent restoration. Aftermarket 3- point and two snap coupler plows (2 and 3). First $3500

Are you going to Elnora this weekend?

Cnc ???

It would take longer to program the darn thing, that it would to cut the slot with a file:rolleyes:

Tony,

Don't get much into buying and selling tractors, but I'll keep my ears open for you. Not going to Elnora.

z4,

I work part-time at a fabrication shop, so I'm going to take over there to work on it. My friend will know what to do. Besides, it's his old saw the bar came off of. I do appreciate the offer.
