Well seeing I was havin a bit much fun on some trails back in the woods the other day and busted up the back of the box on my 97 1500 Im leaning more twards a flatbed instead of paying to get my box fixed. Planning on doing a basic flatbed, nothin to fancy. I have a great idea for a headache rack, gunna do the barb wire style but a range them diagonal and leave an opening for the beer window:rock:and I'm gunna put 3 toolboxes on it. One at the front of it and 2 under the sides. 20150101_213122.jpg

Flatbed sounds like a good idea if you don't know how to do bodywork. Custom headache racks always look great. My '97 2500 is stock for now other than a Ranch Hand rear bumper. Check out this guy's 1997 with a flatbed

flat beds are handy. I've built a couple. The suggestion I would make is to build it as low as possible to make it useable. I see a lot that are way higher than they need to be. Drop the bed as low as you can(make sure the suspensions bumpers will stop wheels from rubbing ) and stagger the cross members so they are around your rear tires to allow for extra clearance.
