Hello all.
Just before I returned the camera I wanted to show how lucky I was a while back.
I get talking to a bloke at work about chainsaws every now and then, he was a Stihl tech years ago. Came in a while ago and asked if I want this Stihl service kit that he won at Stihl school years ago? Said he never really used it and had sat in his shed for years, would not take any money for it. All I need now is a Stihl !
Guess it would only suit older models though?
Thanks.

Nope, it suits old and new models... you might need to buy the odd adapter for newer saws, but most if what you have I use every day.

nice find... about $400 to buy all stuff in there. The oil seal puller is about $125 alone...

Lucky You

That kit can be used for todays saws and older saws as well. You only need a few of the newer flanges for todays saws and your set. You'd be surprised how many techs try to get by without those tools in that free kit of yours and wished like hell they had them. Your buddy set you up good, real good indeed. Use them wisely and don't loan them out, every tool in that kit is costly, very costly.

If those Germans had adopted the decimel point instead of the comma, thay might have one the war.

If you look at the gauge face it has commas instead of decimal points. This is common in Euro metric system.

Woody I got your 660 all shined up for ya, when you coming to pick it up???

Here is a question for you. I came across an 075AV Super the other day. If you pull the carb you can see the piston has scoring (you can see as well as feel the scratches with a fingernail). It also has a shiney piece of Aluminum imbedded in the piston. It is not locked up and you can pull it over and feels like decent compression. Can't see the rings or the cylinder bore. How much is it worth?

A guy bought it off ebay about a year ago and used it a couple of times and then it quit on him. He traded it in to the shop where I saw it. The cylinder base gasket and the crankcase gasket are both a red substance (not original gaskets). The guy wants 200 at the shop. Turned down an offer for 175.
Seems high to me. What is your opinion on value?

Thats a good question there Wood. To me it wouldn't be worth much. Considering what all your gonna have to go through to get it going and finding parts wherever you can I'd pass on it unless just for collecting puposes. Other than the cylinder/piston issue whats the old saw look like?

It looks in decent shape. Name plate still readable. Has the oil cap on the side (screwdriver style), not on the top like some I have seen. I didn't check the spark (electronic style not points) or the auto or manual oiler since it was not running.

On ebay there is a guy in IN that is always selling them for around 400 with a new bar and chain. The shop owner seems to think there is 400 worth of parts and thats why he wants at least 200 as is (no bar and chain).

Hmmmmmm don't know what to tell ya Wood. Are you really considering it or just wanting to sell parts off of it?

I don't really need it. I have a 3120, 090, 2095, 2094, 9000, 288xp, 7900, 6401 and some smaller saws. I do have a 54" large mount Stihl bar (Cannon Superbar) with no saw to put it on though (the 090 has the 41" ES bar).

200 seems too high to me. I would put it on a mill to spare the 090 and 3120.

Looks like you got a helluva bunch of good saws already there. I'm leaning with you, sounds like that old part saw could be more trouble than its worth.

Space that gal keeps staring at me, but I'm not complaining,lol..
She's a whole 'nother story. Quite a handful, still making my mind up about her. Tell me, would you date a bisexual? Frankly, the idea kinda freaks me out. Oops, carry on--didn't mean to derail.
