I had some cherry and locust I wanted to css this morning . I went to grab a saw out of the rack and got looking at my 038 . that was the first new saw I ever bought , 30 some years ago . I decided to give it a try . it hadn't been run in about 10 years , and it took a few pulls , but fired right up and settled down to a smooth idle .it walked right through all that wood even the crotches I had to noodle . its a bit heavy by todays standards but ill be bringing it out a bit more oftenDSC00129.JPG DSC00130.JPG

Great saws! I cut with one two weeks ago with my father in law, the saw I learned to cut with a long time ago. That and an 029 super. Grunty saws. Nice pictures.

Too good a saw to be left hanging on the wall!

My first new saw was an 038M as well.
Great old grunt monster. A couple of years ago, I got an 046 and the 038 was relegated to back up duty.
I still use it a few times a year and I still love it.

Nice!

I regret selling my older saws. Although I do have a couple of Macs that need some TLC to join the frequently used fleet.

I like the older saws too but these new ones just make the work seem like such a breeze. I started out on a Homelite 330 that was always needing attention so I just got rid of it, would like to get another one going though.
