Looks like a porting nightmare.Do the 2 aux intake ports are at same height as the "regular" transfers and does the aux "carb" opens at the same time as the regular throttle ?

I am in the dark on this one. ED and Simon are the only ones that I know of who have been inside a 575!

Dean,

I will sell you a 575 and you can do whatever you want with it, even cut it in half. If you are careful you will not cut the ignition lead and void the lifetime warranty.

;)

I am thinking of a 575, but tell me, why exactly do you want to sell it?
I wish I could run one first.

why cut a perfectly good saw in half? lol.

Now would be a good time to ask the pro's if the 575 has a same muffler as the 372's. Then I would ask if the 372's were the same as my 365's. Can anyone take one of the muffler pics above and mark on itwhat would make a good muffler mod? I want to mod the mufflers on both of my saws, but haven't seen a detailed pic. I think this might be as good as it gets. Thanks

Muffler is not even close. It has a baffle plate inside that runs on a perpendicular plane to the bar canted at a 45 degree angle. Porting this muffler involves some very invasive surgery and reconstruction. Fortunately, this muffler breathes well enough that the cylinder and piston modifications, (which are relatively abstruse), give excellent results that allow it to perform about the same as a stock 385, (about 0.6 hp less). This saw shines in two areas, fuel consumption and smoothness. This machine will burn about 5 liters of fuel per day in second-growth fir with square-ground chain.

As Simon mentioned the 575 muffler is different than the 372XP. However the 365 and 372XP share the same muffler. Use the search function for "muffler mods" and there will be dozens of pictures.

So you did not need all that research and developing after all...

Good, then you can save a lot of money.
