Hey folks,

What is the minimum acceptable trailer set up to haul a descent 6 wheel forwarder, something around 32,000 lbs.? Is this something you could haul with a pintel hitch backhoe style setup, behind say a tandem axle truck, or is this straight up low boy material?

Maybe a chance for some Great White North expertise, or something from a Mainer, eh?

Big question for just a faller.

Here in Cally the legal non-permit load limit is 80,000lbs. A standard 3 axle dump truck and (standard) equipment trailer should weigh about 35K. This leaves a load of 45K between the truck and trailer. There are lots of 20 ton trailers floating around so I would guess 16 tons would not be a big deal.

I would feel better with a lowboy, esp with current bridge restrictions, but that is just me.

machine width is going to be the problem. 8'6" is the cutoff for a wide load...so if you are wider than that you "need" to have permits.

height issues

the biggest problem moving a forwarder is the length and height. due to thier height they need to be on a lowboy as it has a lower deck height. i also havent see a tag along (pintle hitch setup) long enough to carry forwarder.

Thanks 371, what i was thinking, but still interested to see if anyone has seen anything else.

it would have to be on a lowboy, if not it would surely stick up too high and you would hit everything you drove under. ive only seen skidders hauled on tag along trailers behind dump trucks or pulp trucks never a forwarder.
