Found bottom of pecan tree

I have a large pecan tree near the house, it was hit by lightening 10 years ago and the top blow off. Saturday we found what looked like sawdust at the bottom of the tree, we dug it out, did not see any bugs. Went out today and it's filled back up. The tree is very close to the house, and need to know what's going on with it. I would hate to loose it. Also included a photo prior to lightening strike.

Looks like you will eventually lose it. Had a 90+ year old one fall last year. Went to cut it up and it was hollow.

and carpenter ants, unlike termites, do not EAT wood, but they tunnel thru/ remove rotted wood.
