Regularly scan the 'free' list on craigslist, actually do get some good stuff once in awhile.

This one will give many of the pros a groan or whatever,

3 large fir trees, yours for free, must be climbed by experienced tree climber (you do not need to be a pro, I do not discriminate)

You cannot drop any parts on my house or do any substantial damage to anything except the lawn. there is about 20 feet between the one tree and my house the others are clear, one might be able to just be dropped there are empty lots behind my house. Should be able to take them all down in a matter of hours by climbing and cutting, you can have the wood, all 3 trees need to be cut down before any wood removal but you can leave the wood for a week or whatever to accommodate pickup. I will pay a few hundred to have just the trees cut down and left, and I will pay $100 if you want only some of the wood, and its not like I wont help I just dont know how to climb.

Location: Seattle

There is a pix of the trees right next to the house, I'm sure the owners of the 'empty lots' would be happy to have all the limbs left there???

wow, there's idiots everywhere, even in my home area, apparantly.

Then again, back 10 years ago, if there's room to drop 32 foot logs, those trees might have been worth a couple grand at the mill....

I once climbed and removed several trees, mostly backyard, but with access, chipped the brush, and still gave the customer a small kickback. When fir was paying $1000-1250 mbf, and our hourly work rate was about
$55-60, it was easy to come out real well. Not so anymore with doug fir.

someone is always looking for some free work. i like when igive some homeowners a price and they say thats high. you sell the wood right. they just look at tree work like its so easy. but they wont complain to a denist when he charges them $250 to pull a tooth in a emergency.

they are all over.

my buddy has a lawn service and he gets me work all the time.one of his customers wanted some trees down so i gave him a price.he said sounds good and then changed his mind.said him and his son would do some of it.well my buddy went to drop off the bill for the months mowing and pulled in the drive to notice the power lines had been ripped off the house from the customer dropping one of the trees.my buddy had to leave so the fire trucks could get in the driveway.guess the wires were sparking like hell on the lawn and we haven't had rain in several weeks.it's a dustbowl here.he told me to expect a call soon.i used to get pissed about this stuff but now i actually enjoy hearing about it.

Wow...

I have heard of dumb people in the world...but i dont no what to say to this one.

I guess your "sounds good" price...was more expensive...then the power lines...and the fire dept. coming out...and now a whole nother mess.

I wonder what the final bill was.

I am just an amatuer harry homeowner heating with wood but I won't touch a tree that has any possibility at all of harming anything. Did have one huge black locust a gal wanted out (and I wanted the wood). Clear of everything except a power pole anchor. Called the power co to drop it for me. Yep, he hit the anchor. I even had to loan him a saw as his had the worst rocked out chain I ever saw.

I guess in the end you got the wood.
