Currently studying for my Nd, one thing they dont really cover is rigging and the use of pulleys except for using winches. Can any one give me any helpful hints / point me in the right direction? suggested literature would be much appreciated.

Just take care in putting them into practice at once. It’s probably a good thing to work with someone and ask a bunch of questions. Sometimes the stress on the tree can be a little unexpected. IMO I went through the Rigging for Removal video series in school and it was very helpful to me. C.M
 
Ah rats! I thought this was going to be a Sex Pistols thread!

Other than that I think the folks that preceded me covered most of the resources you need
