How's this for a comparison?

Just got the 084 running today, and set it next to the MS 192 with a 10" carving bar and 1/4 chain. The 084 has a 36" bar with .404 full skip.

Here it is pulling the first chips after the rebuild. Saw was given to me with a toasted top end. The crank was OK, so I put new seals and a piston and jug on it, after full tear down and cleaning. I put on the newer carb, a HT 7A, which has a part load enrichment jet, and a main nozzle bypass jet, along with feeding the low side from the high side, which I guess is better since most of the carbs STIHL uses on saws now are set up this way. I put on the big loop starter handle from a suggestion someone mentioned here on AS, and when I went to start it the first time it nearly tore my hand off, even with the deco valve open. So I pulled the flywheel and set it on the second keyway, since I didn't remember which one it was in when I tore it down, and then it started right up!!!!
The muffler has two tubes internally that come out the side, so it is a factory dual port outlet with the screen inside where the two tubes start. I haven't seen one like this before.
The manual says 10,500 is the top speed and it will tune up to 12,000 real easy, but I set it back to 11,000 to run it in to be safe.
We have a huge old oak at church that we will be cutting up next month, about 40 to 50" DBH, so I will take some pics then and post them.
THALL can't have all the fun!

Nice pics. My 10 yr old son just walked by and saw the 192 and said WOW dad thats just my size, can I have one? LOL.

#1, Nice saws...........I have been looking at what I can sell to buy a MS880

2 1/2 cows mite do it. :D

Is that a Stihl brand carving bar!?!?!?!?! :jawdrop: I didn't know Stihl made a carving bar!?!?!?!?!?! mine are all aftermarket....

Yes, troutfisher, STIHL introduced them last year.
3005 003 4203 is a 10" like in the picture,
3005 003 4205 is a 12"
they are Duro tipped and use 1/4" chain of course.

Sprockets:
1123 007 1029 is for the 1123 series saws such as a MS 250
1137 007 1002 is for the MS 191 and MS 192
I am not sure about the MS 170 and MS 180, but I would not recommend it on those saws since they have fixed jet carbs with no accelerator pump.

Thanks for the info. Now that I think about it, when I bought the sprocket for my ms200t, It came in a Stihl package.

Nice...

Be careful with the tuning info in you manual. It may NOT apply to your saw.

The saw is good to 12,250 or 12,500 depending on the coil, BUT how you tune it is critical. If you have the rev limiting coil, you cannot get a reliable tach reading above 10,500 and that might be the part you are seeing in your manual. Do an AS search on this topic.. I know I posted the relevant info before.

Andrew; you are bar none the most helpful person on this site. Seems like every one of posts deserves some rep. I keep hitting the button; it keeps saying spread it around. Before I leave this world I want to meet you and Thall. If you EVER need a little help just ask.
THANK YOU ANDY
Lou
