I have a 1969 CK580 -gas -Case backhoe. Always runs well and have had no problems except hydralic leaks, loose pins etc.. Left it outside last year and this spring started it up and discovered the clutch won't disengage. Plenty of pedel pressure.I opened the side inspection plate to discover a large mouse nest. Cleaned it out and it appears the linkage ( inside) is moving ( nothing broken I can see). Last year it operated fine, no slippage or problems going in gear etc...Any suggestions before I look at getting to the clutch? Looks like a huge job from what I can see!!!

Thanks

I had an old jeep that would do that when it sat for a while. I used to start it in gear and while holding clutch pedal in I would jam on the breaks. Sometimes it took several attempts. I think the friction plate is "rusting" to the pressure plate and flywheel. Maybe from mouse pee. :dizzy:

I have a method that has worked very well for me. The fiber clutch disc and the metal pressure plate and flywheel rust into one unit. I have had very few break free by just holding the clutch down and jabbing the breaks.

The first thing you need to do is either wire the clutch pedal in the released position or cut a block of wood to hold the pedal all the way down.

step 2 is to wait.......... for a week........... or two. I know it sounds weird but leave it sit with the pedal pushed to release the clutch.

Strep three start up the hoe (truck tractor whatever) in gear so it takes off. Now jab the brakes or chain it to some thing that will pop the clutch loose.

I have had great success with this method I hope you do as well. Let me know if you get it loose.

Thanks it worked !!!

The info. you gave me was right on target. 3- weeks with the clutch depressed did it by itself. It works fine now!! Thanks a bunch!!!

Your welcome! Glad it worked. I have often wondered how you came out - was going to ask someday.
