I've got a model 15A. Great skidder! The original engine was either a gas or diesel 172 cu. in. Ford industrial engine. Ford sold those engines by the boatload back in the day. They were used on the ford 900 tractor, the ford 4000 construction tractor, stationary power plants and a lot of other applications. If you got another engine lying around, you could pretty easily fit it to the machine. The transmission is a common one as well. Contact Garrett Enumclaw co. And leave a message with Adam Garrett, he will let you know if he has a lead on something, or will otherwise be able to help you.

thanks been doing a little searching and the transmission is the same as an old flat head ford, which means just about any ford engine in the small block to v6 v4 or inline 4 or inline 6 should be adaptable... I hope, now to find enough work to justify owning it...

I've owned/operated several different skidders and dozers in my day when I used to log full time. The Garrett 15 is my favorite machine of all of them. Kind of like working on your pickup truck rather than a piece of heavy machinery. Nice to be able to pull something or work on it with normal size tools, and not have the need for an overhead crane whenever something needs attention. Don't let it's diminutive size fool you though, it will pull a surprising amount of wood for its size!
