Gas to wood

my friend has a propane insert. wants to go wood. He says he has double wall chimmney pipe,8" outside, 6" inside. Can this be used for wood burnig insert? or does he have to rip it out and start new.

Unless he can find a UL listing tag, rip er out.Sounds more like gas venting.
