I'm kind of forcing my hand by posting this. The only US source I've seen for longer GB bars only has .404 tips available and basically says he'll have nothing new coming from GB.

I've kind of standardized everything on 3/8's so is there any other tips that would fit or other sources? With a 60" or 72" bar should I be using .404 anyway?

With the price of Cannon bars I'm not likely to buy one in the near future. I've never seen a husq mount cannon bar used so I'm trying to figure out if taking a flyer on these bars is worth the risk.

I haven't followed the GB saga closely, but it seems I heard something about "filing bankruptcy" and "all new GB stuff now made in China."

It also seems I heard something about one or two of our Aussie forum members selling GB stuff, so if that is true, he/they may be able to help you out. Forum rules prevent us from plugging non-sponsors, but hopefully someone in the know will see this thread and send you a PM, or at least answer your question about fitting other brands of tips.

I'm not a long bar guy myself, but it seems like we have several members milling with 3/8 on 60 - 72" bars.

3/8 is fine at these lengths

The way the Aussie $ is going against the $US (It's almost 1:1) the Aussie made GB stuff is gonna be just as expensive.

Did you try Sten's they have a website www.stens.com I believe. As of last yr. they had GB stuff Aggiewood is the one who told me about them I ordered my GB mill and bar through them. Hope it helps

I bought a 3/8s tip for a GB bar off eBay about 5 months ago. The tips for the real long bars (48" and longer I think) are different from the short bar tips you're more likely to see. The real long Husqvarna bars were made by GB and use the long bar tip.

Thought I'd post a followup - I did end up buying a 60" GB Titanium bar off of eBay. I poked around more trying to find a 3/8 nose domestically but still couldn't find them. I sent an e-mail to the web site that BobL provided (thanks Bob) and he was able to do something but thought it would be pretty pricey. At the same time I had sent something to GB Manufacturing directly through their web site (looking for any US distributors). They sent an e-mail back that they were working on there US distribution and asking what specifically I was looking for. When I told them they offered to send the nose for the price of shipping. I sent back some questions on how they want to get paid and his response was it was already shipped tell me when it gets there.

So anyway I got the 3/8 nose yesterday in the mail from GB (I just have to figure out how to pay them) and really appreciate the great customer service they've given me.
