Gear locked?

I got a haas velox and the instructions said don't climb up to your TIP, if you climb too close to the TIP you can get "gear locked" and get stuck. I have some speculations but do not understand completely what that means. Anybody know?

Ever crank a come along a little too much and get the hook too close to release?

No but I think I get it. So basically it would be getting the ascender so close to a choked tip that the cam didn't have room to open?
