Holy crap Batman!

But at least he's not gouging on shipping.

That's got to be the nmost original BS excuse for selling a saw I've ever seen. Yeah, I always take a chainsaw with me when I fly to England....

Why am I selling this? I was taking a trip to the UK and was stopped at the airport in NYC. I was not allowed to check this saw into cargo. I guess one of the cargo handlers needed to cut down some trees and felt I would discard it. Hell no, I rang up my brother to take care of it.

Sounds pretty shady to me :monkey:

Hey, now that's probably more like the real reason this BS is going on. Have to check the gas and oil tanks for funny smells.

Cheap as chips...

Yah, you would have to be high to pay that for a 290. I mean, if they are that expensive in the UK, may as well just take orders for them from the UK and buy them here and ship them there. Which...

Hey! I missed my flight from PDX to Heathrow. My 290 was on it. Have to have my friend in London pick it up. Then I will put it on Ebay and sell it to a Brit. Maybe undercut this goon and only charge $550 for them. With the UK-US exhchange rate now, they should be cheap as chips.

Yah! That's the way to pay for my chainsaw addiction.

Ah hah!

Maybe he's taken a lead from the old Cheech and Chong movie and the saw is made out of drugs!!:hmm3grin2orange:

There yah go! All this time people have been complaining that the saws are all made of cheap plastic. Maybe not so 'cheap' after all! I can see it now...

Tonight on the news at 11:00: A local logger is arrested for making crack cocaine out of Stihl sprocket covers... sprocket covers will no longer be available for sale to the general public and only available behind the counter at your local pharmacy...

right next to the Sudafed. What a retard. I know saws cost more in the UK, but that is ridiculous.

Maybe somebody "found" a shipment of saws they're trying to unload off US soil.....I don't know how import/export laws are worked.

UK-US sales

Well, in the UK they have high VAT tax (sales tax). They also have import duty. If a product is used the taxes are diferent. Sort of like grey market cars were here in the states from Europe back in the 1970s. Cheaper to fly there, drive around, and ship the car back here "used".

When I had a Range Rover (during my big money tec bubble days in the Silicon Valley) I used to buy all the parts for it online in the UK and have them shipped over here. The parts were half the price, and even with shipping about 60%. And no CA sales tax, or UK VAT. US customs never gave me a problem about it. Now I buy my Rx meds in the UK. Half the price for the exact same brand name Rx as here. I do not have Rx insurance, so I save a ton that way.
