Im a landscaper and have done some tree work in the past

My main guy is working for a tree service this winter and when he comes back this summer were going to tackle some more tree work

we have a one ton dump

1984 woodchuck chuck and duck(going to pay 4500.00 for her)

Florian makes the best pole pruner--telescoping pole and ratchet head that makes a big cut. Jameson and others will do.

What you need depends on what you want to do. The longterm job growth is in tree care, not just tree removal, and for that you need to know about how to help trees grow. check the link in my sig for starters.
 
naah. usually between 2-4 grand depending upon size, condition and area.
He's not far off market on the chipper imo. his biggest thing I see is he needs a truck. save that little ton dump for hauling wood and get yourself a chipdump with some real payload so you don't spend all day running dump loads. they are not that expensive.
