Look what my Dad's old neighbor gave me.

He also has 3 very large Cherry trees. He has his house up for sale, so I'm gonna ask if I can take one down. Two of them are well over 2' in diameter. I used to work on the old Ford 600 for him so he gave it to me. Now I can use it on the farm to mow my field, and to skid logs off the hill. I'm a happy camper, Joe.

When I was in high school, we had a 53 Ford Jubilee that looked just like that. I spent many hours every day after school on that tractor bush hogging, and dragging dead trees out of the woods. Good memories.

It looks to be in great shape and perhaps that is a testament to you working on her. I love american made, with any luck it will make another generation or two.

I agree...what comes around goes around. You must have done the work on it for free...the old guy felt you gave it some love...you can have it one day. Good for you. Paying it forward lets you feel good twice. Once for doing something good...the next time when you get something given to you.

Yep - I call that a serious score - the tyres also look pretty new?

I went to see the vintage tractor pull at the Calgary stampede - I haven't seen a tractor pull since I was a kid 40+ years ago - what a hoot!
I liked this one.

Nice.

My grandmother gave me grandpa's old 55 ford 700 and it has saved me so much time. I use it to do just about everything around the house. I have a set of forks for the rear and can carry a 1400lb log with the weights in the front. I put an old tool box on the front so I could carry my saws into the woods with me.

Thanks every one. The generosity started with my Dad. Our neighbor was , and still is, in advertising. He sold my Dad his first Yellow Page add, that's how they met. I guess Dad liked him enough, that when the building lot in front of us came up for sale, he told Sal about it. At the time, Dad had an old Farmall C130. He used to cut Sal's grass for years before he built. He kept his tractors in our barn, and let us use them as needed. Before Mom and Dad sold their house, and moved to WV, we had a pretty good pile of equipment in the barn. Dad's C130, my JD 2010 and my Hough Payloader, Sal's Ford and his Kubota front end loader. I wish I had pics of all that stuff together. Yes, there's nothing like old American machinery. You can pick whichever brand you want and there will be examples pushing a hundred years old still capable of doing some pretty serious work. Thanks again, Joe.

Real nice gift you got there!Congratulations! It sure does seem when you do good deeds someday down the road you get payback, and not that you were even looking for it.

It's a 600. I went back over to play with it some on Sat. I don't know how long it's been since it was started, but I hit the starter button and it spun right over. A few spins and the battery croaked. I was going to throw the cables on it, but when I opened the hood there were 2 giant wasp nests. One was the size of a dinner plate. I'll keep you posted, Joe.
