Thats very cool ...if there were more of theses then we would need less programs to coddle children.

Anything to get kiddos to spend more time in the woods and outside of four walls is a damn good thing.

Too many kids are way out of touch with nature these days.

I want to enroll in the class...

Can I bring my saws for Show & Tell ?

"...and this is biodegradable bar oil called Motion-Lotion from Baileys. Ask for it by name!"

I might read them some classic outdoors stories--Pat McManus but maybe on second thought....

A friend said she bought some plastic toy hachets for her boys. There was a watermelon in the back seat with them. The watermelon did not survive the trip home..chop chop. :)

That's good stuff right there!!!

Let 'em get grounded and next to dirt, before they get lost in all the concrete and artificiality of the modern school systems.

Great find Patty!!

Stay safe!

I was amazed this past fall, I was having dinner with my mom who is 75 and her and my step-dad both started relating how they used to go out picking mushrooms at the age of 5.

Even their names for them were what five year olds would call them (things like "pinkies").

Some are very common and easily recognizable like puff balls, some other species would always get their grandparents to double check before they went into the kitchen to make sure they got the ID right between edible and poisonous varieties that looked similar.

This amazed me all the more since my mom was never a gardener type person, and Campbell's cream-of-something casserole defined her kitchen...the thought of her picking mushrooms as a five year old floored me!

This is the best idea I have ever heard for a pre-school. I hope others pick up on the idea and it spreads far and wide.

Wow. i wish I went to school like that.
