Looking at a Dump truck upgrade. Seeing some good deals on both an 03 and 07 gmc kodiak 4500.

Wondering if folks out there are using these as chip trucks with either 10 or 12 foot beds and hauling chippers with them?

Would be replacing a 68 F600 with a wooden chip box.

I am pretty confident the truck is strong enough with a 300hp Duramax and Allison 1000 tranny, but I am wondering about suspension?

Also, to save weight what do you guys think about a modified flat bed dump with added on steel walls and an aluminum top, ever seen such a thing?
Feedback?

Thanks
