Well I finally broke down and bought a camera. Bought the packaged deal at Best Buy. Played with it a little, but I got a Q. What software do you guys use to edit this stuff!

Good question. Like I posted on your Facebook, windows movie maker is the easiest I have used for editing. That was with my old camera though. I cannot use it for my contour movies because they are in QuickTime format when I download the video with the camera software. I just installed iMovie and will let you know how that goes. I would visit the go pro website and forums to see what others are using for the best results.

I really don't edit much to speak of. I just upload them to iPhoto. I'm in search of decent software myself.

So I am playing with my roam camera and ipad today. I just figured out how to get it connected and it is importing video now. I'm going to play with the imovie software a little bit and see what I can do after I get the vids uploaded. I have been searching the web looking for info on how to import my vids (didn't have it plugged in good and it was not uploading). I came across a review/comment section where they said the roam is Apple based and will be easier to work with on Apple platforms and the Go Pro is windows based and works best with that platform.

Hope this helps

I am just happy to be able to finally bypass the camera's software on the windows system and be able to upload raw data to work with in the software of my own choosing.

Found a few online, but not too sure about them, my cuz, who is my IT guy, sent me one, going too try it out and let yall know. Going to have some fun with this thing! How do u get permission to use music?

Not sure about the music thing, I've never used it. The main thing is to find a program that will save it to whatever format it creates the footage in. Mine creates movies in apple's QuickTime format. To edit in a windows program I wild have had to first run it through a conversion program to change the format over to windows which is time consuming.

Adobe offers the best editing software on the market, unfortunately it is expensive and take a bit of time to learn but once you have grasped the hang of it and know what buttons do what then you have many more possibilities and options for editing. If you have time to learn the program there are tons of video tutorial out there that will teach some of the basics.

Adobe Premiere Elements bundled with Adobe Photoshop Elements $100.00 - $129.00. Premiere is excellent editing software and gives you many creative options for your videos. Or you can at least cut out all the crap between the good parts, which makes most tree guy videos about 60 seconds long. (Photoshop Elements is nice too, but be prepared for some eye strain unless you have a 36" monitor.)

gopro editing

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem, I used movie maker and got the clips together with music and after hours of editing my video came out twitching thru the whole 4+ minutes. so for now I have been recording with my phone off the computer monitor which I know sucks but I can't wait forever for my cousin who is a computer whizz to show up and help me. I'm saving to get a Mac hopefully it will be better than my oldschool crappy laptop
:msp_thumbdn:

Imovie comes with mac computers and is super easy to use. usually takes me less than 15 minutes. to do a full lenght down to 5-10 minutes. simple as click and drag.

Cool, I got the software thing figured out, still just collecting footage..........everyday. We have a separate computer just for this, high speed deal for gaming (it was my oldest boys, but he has a I-Pad now) Has a Terra Bite (sp?) of memory, its getting full! Going to take me a while to go thru it all, but when I am done, it should be a pretty cool vid. Music and all, like the big boys!

Using MovieMaker with my GoPro. Works grate. Easy to learn.

Everytime I use moviemaker the final result is all my clips together but the video appears to be having a seizure thru the whole video!:angry2:.... I finally figured out QuickTime pro but can't figure out how to format it for upload to YouTube!:msp_mad: Oh well I'm sure ill figure it out sooner or later.... I only try to figure out computers for an hour at a time, any longer and I get so frustrated I want to put a 12ga buckshot thru it......:frown:

Going to have some fun with this thing! How do u get permission to use music?

I do about a dozen banquets a year and make slide show's for each of them; getting a release to use someone music is a tough one if you know the person that made the music it isn't tough at all. Promotor here will not let me use any music that I don't have a release signed to use in a slide show as back ground music just like I won't let people use my images with out signed release. There are huge fines if you get caught using someone's music in the back ground of a movie or slide show - it only takes one person to sell you out

Have I seen or heard of someone getting caught using music as background music in a vedio or slide show with out a release signed for that project yes sir and that banquet was the last one they did

There are plenty on song writers/singers that will do a few songs for a small fee and that's what I use :)

i find that Imovie works well, and it came free on my computer.

I love using my Go-pro on climbs and for other interesting shots like yanking shrubs with a truck.
