Hi guys,

Saw this for sale:

http://www.blocket.se/vi/12710051.htm?ca=18_s

Here's what it says:

372 XPG in very good condition.
4 18" bars
2 22" bars
3 loops of 15" chains
9 loops of 18" chains
4 packs of round files
5 flat files.

Price 5500 SEK ~ 730 USD + VAT(which I will get back)
Americans: remeber a new 372 is 1200USD here ....

Should I or shouldn't I ?

/Peter

I looked at that saw myself, do you have the possibility to go and check it out ?
if so take the muffler of and take look inside so it don't got any scratches on the cyl/pis !!
if it look okay and feels tight and firm buy it :)
it's a lovely saw to run !!!
and unless the previous owner have run it leaned out it should be hard to kill it with the trees we have in Sweden :p

Hello kristoffer!

Unfortunately it's far away, on the west coast. Would have to buy as it is..
It feels safer since there are so many rounds of chains and bars which are worth quite a lot of money. If cyl and piston is scratched, there are 75cc kits available I guess ;)

Do you have a clue to how old it is, and what kind of use it has been sumitted to?

Looks like a pretty good deal to me, if it is OK.

They cost more than 1200USD new here in Norway, more like 1550, powerhead only........:bang: :bang:

Looked up the selling company's website. Seems to be more into tourist
attraction like fishing, BBQ evenenings etc... Don't think it has been used by forestry professionals. I'll call the guy and check it up. The only thing is... I don't really need it, the 262 is still going very strong.. But sometimes you shouldn't follow logic..

It's 1 2005 model. Not used since autumn -06.
Some cutting loose after storms and som felling of larger trees he said.
Chains and bars new except the one that is mounted. Humm, life is tricky.

It probably have a rev limited coil then, if you care.

I probably would have taken my chances on it, if I wanted a 372xpg, and didn't insist on a new one - it is a really cool saw to use!!!!!:rockn:

Saw the ad too, but I'm done with new saws for a while... ;)

Well, it's a good saw, and you won't be able to find very many of them in decent shape anymore since they are not sold new. If you find any value in all the extras that's coming with it you're looking at about 50% of the price the stuff would cost new.

Can't be to bad of a deal, and saws are nice to have... :chainsawguy:

Go for it Peter,,, If you snooze,,, you lose!!!!

Mental picture

In my minds eye I see Peter standing on the chainsaw bridge of indecision, and 16000 AS members all elbowing each other in order to be the one that knocks ole Peter off the bridge into the calm Husky waters.

Oh, enjoy your new saw,

Jack

You're right Joat.. But I dunno. I kind of have something against buying used chainsaws, especially when I can't have a look at it before.

The used 372 in the ad is 6875 SEK with all the bars and chains.
My buddy just bought a brand new 2171 modded (woods ported by the dealer) for 8900 SEK with one b&c. I think I could have the same deal on the Jonny since I know the dealer, he trains his dogs on our land.

I'll make up my mind today.

That's what I meant about the value of the extras. If you don't care for them then it's not such a low price that it's worth it to buy the saw unseen... Otoh, you cold probably use the bars and chains for your other equipment, so then it's not so bad... :dizzy:

Afraid of used saws? I actually know a guy who made a pretty sweet deal on a used 066 not long ago...

Thanks Peter. I guess you're just trying to help us know which side of the bridge to push you off!

That changes the picture a bit, I thought it was 5500 for it all - didn't notice the ekscl Moms (Sales Tax) thingy.........

I prefere to buy new also, and think I would have preferred to buy that new 2171 instead......

It is.

5500 + vat = 6875. But since Peter has a business he probably get's the vat refunded afterwards, so in reality, for him it's 5500. I guess however that the 2171 was 8900 incl. vat so to get the prices comparable he added the vat to the 372 price.

So, Peter, you gotta ask yourself "Do I feel lucky?" Well do you? Then it might be time for an unseen Internet purchase.

And you might also have to ask yourself the same thing as everybody else: Which one of the two is it that has the goofy angle on the front handlebar..? Red.... orange... red and black... orange... In your heart you know...

You're right about the VAT thing. Both prices are incl VAT that I will get back. Of course there is a big value in the chains and bars but new is always new.. The goofy angle on the handlebar I can live with ;) The guy that I respect the most when it comes to chainsaws prefers the 2171 over the 372. It has better air intake due to better covers and hence it cools better too he says. I'll ask the government for advice. She did say that if I propse to her, I can buy which chainsaw I want. I now I did so .. ) Probably I'll wait a bit, as always. Seen from an economical standpoint, it's best to stick with the 262, otherwise it will just be standing in favor of the 70cc. 0,1kg more and 0,9hp more...

Sounds like a fair deal huh? Small price, if even none, to get to buy the chainsaw. Seems like a win-win situation, right?

HAH! Don't go there, it's a trick! It will be the last time ever you will be allowed to buy something you want. :jester:

Instead, go ahead and buy both saws and then see if she stays... If so, then it might be worth it to propose... And if she leaves, well, then at least you'll have two really good saws, and you can always buy a dog later if you want company... :p

.... 0,1kg more and 0,9hp more...

I believe the truth is more like .6kg, .6hp, if both have heated handles......:biggrinbounce2:

The 262xp is a pretty hot-rodded saw, for its size, and the 372xp is a bit heavier than Husky states.......
