Husky is offering a free Petzl Helmet with either the 338xpt or 339xp. I have been using a Poulan Pro 295 but it is starting to be more trouble than it is worth. Any thoughts on these two saws? Any other suggestions?:blob2:

Don't know what the price of the deal is, but both are good saws ,,,, but then theres the Stihl .vs. Husky thing ,,,,,

Stihls dont sit still!

I was looking at the deal for the helmet and the saw but I have looked seriously at the Stihl models too. My Poulan Pro has served me well in the past for getting down the high limbs but it is starting to wear out. I have picked up the MS 200 in the store and it feels very comfortable. I like the leverage you can get with a handle further back since that is what I am used to. On the larger sections I use a 455 Rancher with a 20 bar and for the big trunk sections I get out the 088 and use the bar I have that is the most appropriate for the job: 25,30, or 47. I am very pleased with both saws so I am kinda torn as to which one to go with for my limbing work. As far as the helmet goes I can always pick that up separately. I do hit my head A LOT:laugh:

Go to the stores and feel the two brands in your hand, both are pro models so I think you would be happy with either :)

IMO 339xp is one fine saw, but its hard decision between ms200 and 339xp... IMO id go for 339xp thou (surprise surprise :hmm3grin2orange: )

I have a husky 335xp- a few years old, but it has good power. the design is a little lacking, less leverage, and doesn't start as well. We affectionately call it the "penis zapper" as the plastic cover never stays on the spark plug side. WOW that will surprize ya when you bump it! I run ms 200's at work, and like them, except for the gas and oil caps, the old 020 is unbeatable for durability and ease of use. I also like the MS 192 because it is a lot lighter and will still cut 8 or 10" stuff OK-great for getting up in the 1 and 2" diameter tops and doing careful reductions.

I'm a stihl man, but husky builds some pretty good damn saws

If you have a big head like me-get the petzl BEST, not the Vertex VENT, the ear straps catch under my lobes and give me a royal headache.

A little of subject. What is the husky saw closet to the 260 pro that husky makes that is a pro saw?

i have the stihls but..........

looks like husky fixed the complaint i had with the 338 which was the handle was too round for holding the saw sideways.now it seems flatter and has the rubber grip inserts.i will be going with one the next time the ms200 lets me down which should be the next time i use it.i love the ms192t though but it doen't have quite the speed sometimes.my local dealer quoted me $430 + extorsion fee on the new 338.
