Well I will be finished up with the old site I worked all winter. I was looking at another piece of property that is owned my the same guy when the neighbor farmer came over. He asked what I was doing and when I told him he asked about his property. I won't be able to cut the one I was looking at due to crops that will be put in. So I went and looked it over. It is all open pasture with 50-60 sycamores in it. I measured the smallest one at 32". The larges was well over 8 feet but was hallow and only about 10 feet tall. I will be cutting it out as well. I guess I will see what the 'ol 066 is made of on this job. Looks like I will be working for a little while longer now.

What's the market for Sycamore? curious.

Right now it is .26 a foot. Not much but beats sitting at home. Also scored a bunch of fire wood on this job. Lot of locust and hedge.

Thanks, I guess I meant what is it used for. Don't think we have any around here. We do have a lot of harvestable nearly worthless timber though. regards

I have some Sycamore I'm currently cutting. There are a few mills in Holmes county that will take Sycamore 20" and bigger and quarter saw it. The last time I checked the price of good figure 4/4, quarter sawn Sycamore the lumber company wanted $4.10/bd ft, with best figure bringing $7.10. Looks like some mills could make a hefty profit if they only want to pay the blocking price.

Where in Ohio are you cutting?

Which mill is this?? Most of the trees that I will be cutting are over 40". PM me where they are. I am cutting at the very north edge of licking county. Holmes county is not that far to truck for that price.
