a client has a few oak trees in his back yard .They are full of oak galls.regular oak gouty not horned gouty galls. After removing gall what is the best method exterminating the parasitic wasps .YES,I am legal.I can not treat fruit trees or comercial nursery or Forestry stock. This is for my knowledge only, we have a couple tree guys we refer our big arb problems to.

HOw about a picture or a scientific name if you have in fact ID'd it. I saw some big round galls on oak twigs just today and pruned them all out. nO other control was needed imo.

'Are those wasps truly parasitic? Are you sure?

the galls are are in 5to 7querus rubrum ,and galls are quercusunctata.they are planted in a next uneffectect querus Macrocarpa (bur oak). No photos , I dont carry a camera.Timed gall removal . Thanks. Looks like good reference books .

So red oaks have em and bur oaks don't, yeah, it seems that pests in general like red oaks better; a subgenus heading for extinction?

The horned gall disease seems far worse than the round galls, but that's based on seeing only a few.

ray we see those a lot on reds and whites; never seen those smooth ones hurt the tree. google callirhytis (sp?) for the bad one
